Will there be a community discussion in which members of Wikimedia movement can express their direct opposition to such move?

There is no timetable for this at present. I think the task more reflects a hope that at some point we could stop maintaining separate systems.

Strong oppose. New filter interface is ugly and awkward, it shouldn't be the only option.

@MaxBioHazard: If no other input is provided apart from "I do not like it"; "me too"; "+/-1" then I kindly ask you to refrain from adding such comments in Wikimedia Phabricator. Such comments do not add any additional value to tasks as they contain no specific, actionable criticism. Thanks for your understanding.

Thanks for your thoughts @MaxBioHazard. We are happy to provide an alternative to the New Filters for users such as yourself, and have no plans at present to act on this ticket, which merely records the desire that at some point we might simplify our maintenance load.

We have a page for user feedback if you'd like to offer any details about your frustrations that others haven't covered already—particularly any constructive observations we might act on.

It is not much work keeping the opt-out option alive, while it is just forcing the non-Javascript interface.
