"Group changes by page in recent changes and watchlist" preference does not imply "Expand watchlist"
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to cswiki (Czech Wikipedia)
  2. Have some pages in watchlist changed more times from your last visit
  3. Printscreen your watchlist
  4. Check Group changes by page in recent changes and watchlist (V posledních změnách a sledovaných stránkách seskupovat změny podle stránek)
  5. Save
  6. Printscreen your watchlist

Expected behavior
There should be a change between first and second printscreen of seeing changes not grouped by page and seeing them grouped by page.

Current behavior
The differences between first and second printscreen are only cosmetic (design), but changes are grouped by page in both cases.

Configuration
Opera 46, Linux

Event Timeline

Do you have Expand watchlist to show all changes, not just the most recent (Na seznamu sledovaných stránek zobrazovat všechny změny, ne jen tu poslední) in Watchlist (Sledované stránky) enabled?

No, I have got the defaults in preferences; both of them are disabled by default

In my opinion, the behavior you describe is actually correct. The problem (or the origin of confusion) is that Group... does not imply Expand... (so you have grouping enabled but there is nothing to group by).

Mattflaschen-WMF renamed this task from "Group changes by page in recent changes and watchlist" prefference has no effect to "Group changes by page in recent changes and watchlist" preference does not imply "Expand watchlist".Jul 27 2017, 12:51 AM

Maybe those two should be at least somewhere together and Group... should have got a disabled checkbox if Expand... is disabled
