@Mrjohncummings we need your help please. :) One of the barriers for China to participate in this year's contest is to find a jury member who is a heritage expert (or with deep understanding of China's monuments). Do you have a recommendation who we can approach?

@LilyOfTheWest argh, I never saw this message, did it get sorted? I can try and find someone, UNESCO can promote to a wide Chinese audience hopefully if China does participate. There is a list of Chinese heritage produced by the government here that could be used http://www.sach.gov.cn/col/col1644/index.html

@LilyOfTheWest @Mrjohncummings I don't think the heritage expert for the jury is found yet - Johns help with that would be appreciated. Someone from a govt organization would be complicated for privacy concerns, possibly - so I'd assume someone independent is preferred.

Promoting the competition would be great, we're indeed somewhat limited with our Chinese audience given the Wikipedia coverage. However, we did sortout a method to showing banners. Help is appreciated though.

I think that they already use those lists btw - even though probably a version from 2013 (see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2017_in_China ; click on the map). Feel free to get someone to confirm.

@Effeietsanders agreed re jury though that's not a blocker for them to participate. We have committed to help them. If you agree, I create a task to track that task, and we can close this one. (I'm thinking we should use sub-tasks more, I'm the first person to be blamed here, btw.)

@Mrjohncummings any update? Otherwise we have to look for an alternative /now/.

@Effeietsanders apparently that part of the task was tracked at T174132 and it seems to be resolved by now. Shall we close this task?

Doing some final checks now whether everything worked out.
