Move WLM-SK lists to Wikidata
Open, MediumPublic

Description

WLM-SK point of contact has requested that we work with them to move their monuments data to Wikidata.

Here are the steps needed to make this happen:

  • Locate the lists
  • Check Wikidata to see if the property corresponding to their monuments exist.
  • ...

From the WLM list:
Our lists can be found in this category, sorted by regions, districts
and municipalities:
https://sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kateg%C3%B3ria:Zoznamy_kult%C3%BArnych_pamiatok_na_Slovensku
and a list example looks like this:
https://sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoznam_kult%C3%BArnych_pamiatok_v_obci_Hronsek
The lists are located at
https://www.pamiatky.sk/sk/page/register-nkp-tabulkove-zoznamy and
sorted by the 8 regions.

@Lokal_Profil https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Jetam2 and I had a chat at breakfast. Slovakia wants to transfer their data to Wikidata and they have two questions:

  • How can we help them? I suggested that I connected you with Jetam2 re the next steps.
  • What happens to maintaining the data once the data is transferred to Wikidata, as in: can the lists/meta-data be updated in Wikipedia (where the lists be surfaced) or should all edits happen on the Wikidata end?

Generally, Slovakia may continue surfacing the tables like last years, in Wikipedia, as they don't want to rush the decision of how to surface data in the next few weeks (they want to make sure their user experience stays unchanged, if not improved:).

@Lokal_Profil I had a chat with @Jetam2 and the Slovakian community will need some time to discuss the implications of moving data from Wikipedia lists to Wikidata. Let's not prioritize this task on our end until that discussion happens and is converged.

@Jetam2 please feel free to reach out to us with questions. Please take your time. This is something you all should feel comfortable with. :)

Dear all

perhaps we could try to revive this task. The newest lists are located on the website here. There are eight, sorted by region and then down to the municipality. Would anyone be able to update the existing lists on WD and WP?
Thank you very much!

Dear all

could we try to make this happen for 2019?
Thank you very much!

Jetam2

Dear all, thank you for the work that has been done.
This https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q13537666 list of archival documents etc. can be ignored for Wiki Loves Monuments purposes.
It seems to me that the best would be to go from the list of monuments directly from the source (https://www.pamiatky.sk/sk/page/register-nkp-tabulkove-zoznamy)

FYI, there is a table at the hackathon working on it right now, at least looking at the first possible obstacle.

Four source, we will use the Heritage database harvesting Wikipedia: https://tools.wmflabs.org/heritage/api/api.php?action=search&srcountry=sk&srlang=sk&format=html

+ identifier property request : https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Property_proposal/Register_nehnute%C4%BEn%C3%BDch_NKP

This open task is tagged with Wiki-Loves-Monuments 2018 which was two years ago. If this task was/is resolved, then please update the task status. If this task was not resolved but is still valid, then please update the project tags to include at least one active project tag, so this task could be found when looking at that other project. (Without reaction, this task might get declined at some point.) Thanks a lot!

Removing Wiki-Loves-Monuments 2018 tag as that was two years ago; adding general Wiki-Loves-Monuments tag.
