Determine minimum release

Description

In T171756 @Pablo-WMDE raised the question which MediaWiki release we should support, as OOUI JS is being improved and bug-fixed constantly and we might rely on the newer bugfixes. So please give a hint as to what the minimum MediaWiki version should be.

As a suggestion I'd say "at least Version 1.30". This is because the minimum version of the search backend (Elasticsearch) was changed in 1.29 from 2.x to 5.x. Testing with the old Elasticsearch backend is hard. And 1.29 is not an LTS version, but the "current" version, but I'd rather not honor the bugs and missing features in that version.

Is 1.30 going to be LTS and do you know when it will come?

I don't know the plans but would guess that the next LTS is 1.31. See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Version_lifecycle#Release_policy

While we are still developing the extension anyway, why should we care about staying compatible with older releases of MediaWiki? If I'm not mistaken we mainly care about deploying it on foundation wikis, which run the latest development version anyway. I think I'd be cool to, once the initial dev is done, which gears, and keep compatibility with the first release of MW made after that, so third parties that want to use the extension can use stable releases of MW.
