Description

To make sure our setup is working it's necessary to test the tracking on beta-wiki.

What do we want to test:

impressions working properly (25%, 25%, 25%, 12,5%, 12,5%) (daily)
banner clicks tracked (daily)
page views per banner (daily)
registrations per banner (daily)
guided tour shown

The test should be finished by the end of next week (22.09.2017)

The following needs to be done:

T175908 is precondition to this task
create banners
deliver landigpage links
deploy hack from Addshore on beta-wiki
check tables for data
deliver beta-link for testing
deliver test report
make adjustments if necessary

The test should be ready for starting on 20.09. to test 2 days of tracking.

Please add or correct tasks or give tipps, as this is the second Phabricator-Ticket I've created.

Hello everybody,

I would suggest to do the testing in real Wiki not in beta-wiki. During the spring campaign we had some issues with the Guided Tour which did only show up in real Wiki.

Besides we already have the Guided Tour in de-wiki, we have test landing pages and from Thursday on the code will be deployed. So we only need a (test) banner, correct?

For the landingpages I therefore suggest the following links:

I would suggest to do the testing in real Wiki not in beta-wiki.

Could we create an invisible banner or something only we know about?

That depends on to what extent you want to test. If you consider the banner impression data to be needed during testing, we can only use the beta cluster. Setting up campaigns on production wikis will display banners to all users. We can, of course, create test banners that will not be part of an active campaign, but can be forced to display by using the banner parameter. Calling banners with that parameters will not trigger an impression count, though.
