As the next round of Google Code-in is likely around the corner (still waiting for a Google announcement), we've been wondering how to get more awareness of Wikimedia's participation in the next Google Code-in round and also "describing the journey" when it comes to involvement in the movement (and continuing after GCI has ended).
So we had this idea of publishing a blog post before the next round starts and featuring a participant.
@MtDu came to my mind who was a GCI 2016 Grand Prize winner, attended Wikimedia Hackathon and Wikimania, and has already worked on a lot of things. And MtDu said he'd be interested (yay, thanks!).
Maybe maybe some parts of https://mtdublog.wordpress.com/author/mtdu/ could be incorporated. And/or notes from the Vienna Hackathon and Wikimania.
Drafting should probably happen by following the recommendations at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Blog
(For the records, last time we only had a pretty dry blog post after the last edition, at https://blog.wikimedia.org/2017/02/03/google-code-in/ but we linked to numerous participant blog posts at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Google_Code-in/2016#Wrap-up_blog_posts )
