rEBAN extension-BlockAndNuke wouldbe useful in dealing with the waves of spambots there. I know it is a test environment, etc; but that shouldn't mean we should allow it be cluttered with spam.

The first thing to do should be checking if the code of the extension would work with our current version of MediaWiki (bugs to MediaWiki-extensions-BlockAndNuke)

Probably the whitelist.txt file shouldn't be used and the "merge" function should be disabled too to avoid broken accounts, etc.
