[BUG] Chinese language variant mismatch on title in history

Steps to reproduce

  1. On zh wiki, search for 天聞角川
  2. Tap through to the article
  3. Go to the history tab

Expected results

Article appears in the history as 天聞角川

Actual results

Article appears in the history as 天闻角川


The title in the history matches the canonical title (matching the language variant of the original article) - not what the user saw. The same issue exists for links clicked in other articles.

Here's a ticket proposing a change to mobileview that would allow us to use the non-canonical title: . However, we would need to use the canonical title when requesting the page summary from /api/rest_v1/page/summary (unless that is also updated).

Another option would be to store the displayTitle the user saw and ensure it isn't overwritten. We could use the canonical title for mobileview and /api/rest_v1 endpoints.
