How soon you are hoping this can be fulfilled: ASAP

Event Timeline

Is the intent of this project to host MWStake specific tools or are you aiming for something different in scope? The purpose statement sounds more oriented to either SemanticMediaWiki or some technical documentation project than to the MWStake group. See my rant explanation in T177616#3665067 for some of the reasons that we would rather grant product scoped projects than group scoped projects.

From T177616#3665067:

We have tried for a couple of years now to discourage projects scoped to a Foundation team or department ... There are a few reasons for discouraging 'team' aligned projects. One is that teams can and do change while their software projects tend to stick around.

Yes, that is certainly true of Foundation teams and departments that can and on occasion should be reorganized as the situation warrants. But, MediaWiki-Stakeholders-Group has at least a recent history of persistence and can hopefully be relied upon to remain as a focal point for communication between the Foundation and the third party community.

Another is that team alignment can restrict or discourage community involvement in the Cloud VPS projects.

But the express purpose of this project is community involvement.

A third is that it can become very difficult for the Cloud VPS admins to find canonical points of contact for grab bag projects

@MarkAHershberger will be the community point of contact and I will be the Foundation point of contact.

To elaborate further, the product of this project would be a VM that hosts a wiki running a suite of enterprise extensions. This wiki would take the place of the current https://mwstake.org, which is currently hosted on a paid cloud hosting platform.

Approved, will do shortly

We don't support CamelCase in project names, so I've created a project called 'mwstake'. @MarkAHershberger is a project admin and can add other users or admins as needed.

This project us marked for deletion in https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/News/Cloud_VPS_2022_Purge but also contains a large data volume that may or may not be of value. Please respond!
