Aklapper triaged this task as High priority.
Aklapper moved this task from Backlog to October on the Developer-Advocacy (Oct-Dec 2017) board.

Ah. Okay.

I went to https://wikimedia.biterg.io/goto/e5b9d8056951fee350a47f59c85b19c3 which is the Overview and searched for a specific user missing.
On Overview, "Top Authors" is empty, while "Changesets" and "Editions" shows activity. Which was not what I expected.

So the reason is that "Top Authors" on Overview refers to Git. If a user has contributed to Gerrit but not merged to Git they will not be listed under "Top Authors" but we will only find them on Gerrit.
That was not too obvious.
