Yes. The two official versions of our logo are now this and this. With the square one (requested here) being an adaptation of the first to add whitespace above and below to make the proportions square.

1. Rename the old logo "\mediawiki-config\static\images\project-logos\sewikimedia.png"->"\mediawiki-config\static\images\project-logos\sewikimedia_old.png"
2. Upload new logo "\mediawiki-config\static\images\project-logos\sewikimedia.png"

This means that every place that want the picture at "sewikimedia.png" will get the uploaded logo.

I think you can Replace the logo. Because Old logo will be only garbage in mediawiki-config.

You got a point. It would only be useless to have there. It's doing nothing just sitting there and can always be retrieved again if needed.

The Change is live. But due to cache the old logo still showing. So Take patience.

@SimmeD I also have not +2 power. But I am able to deploy the patches. because of see below

• First you need to enter your patch in SWAT Window https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Deployments. Just like I am doing today.
• Then you need to present on wikimedia-operations IRC channel at the time of when the window is about to occur.
• Then Install https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/X-Wikimedia-Debug in your secondary Browser. Why secondary Browser? Because you have to clean cache in short time period. And Cleaning cache in the primary browser again and again is not the good idea. So I recommend you for Secondary Browser.
• During the window, SWAT member will be merge your patch. Then you need to go in your browser and switch on the X-Wikimedia-Debug and select mwdebug1002 (In most cases) option. Now you will be able to see changes in the local wiki. like in this patch new logo is appearing in mwdebug1002 at se.wikimedia.org rather than old one.
• If Everthing is fine then told that to SWAT member. They will be Synchronized it. If not you can told them for reverse the patch merge.
  

See today when I Switch on the X-Wikimedia-Debug. The new logo was came.
