Should the very address provided as a segment for translation be translated or not?
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hi! I am translating Training modules listed on https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:LanguageStats into Basque, and sometimes the very address is provided as a segment for translation, e.g. Programs & Events Dashboard/Using the Dashboard/Participating in a program. Should I leave that as is, or translate anything? Thank you

@Inaki-LL: Thanks for reporting this. Why is this assigned to Ragesoss and did he agree on being the assignee here?
What is a specific, direct link to actually see such a problem?

Hi Aklapper, to be honest I am quite new to Phabricator, he talked to Theklan, who in turn suggested we address him for any queries, and I started this thread; not sure if this is the way to start a dialogue. Regards

Iñaki

No problem. :) Could you still answer my two questions, please?

I am not sure if this is assigned to Rageoss. I would like to somehow contact him to clarify my queries, that is all. I did not tag this either. A direct link to the issue queried is [[ m:Special:Translate&group=agg-Programs_and_events_dashboard_training_modules&language=eu&filter=%21translated&action=translate | this ]]. Thanks Aklapper

@Inaki-LL you should leave URLs as they are, rather than translate them.

Posting a full URL: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Translate?group=agg-Programs_and_events_dashboard_training_modules&language=eu&filter=%21translated&action=translate
Seems this is about strings like "Programs & Events Dashboard/Using the Dashboard/Starting new programs/Cloning a program" which are also URLs like
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Programs_%26_Events_Dashboard/Using_the_Dashboard/Starting_new_programs/Cloning_a_program

@Ragesoss: How is this fixed? Won't the next translator for a different language have the very same problem?

Thanks! I understand that I should not add the /eu extension either, right? Regards
