Document the "Zulip" software on a wiki page on MediaWiki.org
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Background
Wikimedia uses Zulip, an open source chat platform for its Outreach programs to connect students and mentors. Currently, there is no information available on MediaWiki.org that we are using Zulip for Wikimedia outreach programs, how to register and login to the platform, how the platform works, and that the platform is available for use to anyone in the Wikimedia community.

Steps to work on this task:

  • 1. Send an email to ssethi@wikimedia.org with a valid email address and request for an invitation to join Zulip.
  • 2. Use instructions in the email to join the platform. Keep note of these steps in your rough notes, and take screenshots.
  • 3. Go to stream ‘Announce’ and then in the ‘New users’ topic reply to the automated bot message.
  • 4. Create a page on zulip that should be a subpage of the Outreach programs page > Outreach programs/Zulip.
  • 5. Include information about the platform, steps to register and login to the platform, how the platform works, how to chat, etc. Also, include a logo of the Zulip platform on the page.

@srishakatux: Where to "create a page on zulip"? I would not want to see https://www.mediawiki.org/Zulip (on the top level) if Zulip is used for Outreach programs only and while https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Outreach_programs exists...
Regarding "including a logo", this should likely just reuse existing https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Zulip_logo.svg to not re-invent the wheel?

@Aklapper good points! I've updated the task description.

If it's ok with you, @srishakatux, I would like to co-mentor this task :)
