New interwikis from Commons categories not working

Description

Attempting to create interwikis from Commons categories that have no previous interwikis gives an "unkown error" from the commons interface.
Example categories: 1, 2

For future reference, exact steps are welcome (how to "create interwikis", where to do this in "the commons interface", to avoid misunderstandings).
