When browsing the feed, I want to see content that I have interest in so that I can easily find things I like to read.
Allow users to select categories/topics of interest as a new card type on the feed.
We may be able to leverage the 'Random' endpoint to retrieve articles of sufficient quality in users' specified area of interest.

This already works pretty well at the recommended reading list so maybe the better approach is (or a good way to interpret this) would be T418049: Enable seeing the recommended reading list articles in the home feed in app (that is: integration of the recommended reading list feature into the feed or adaptation of the RRL for a new feed component).
Enabling users to also select categories for interests would be good to add to the recommended reading list as well.
There probably needs to be some thinking about whether to implement what's outlined here in a separate tab/page or whether it would be good to overhaul the Explore feed or to just add a tile to the current feed framework.
If the latter then how to combine/integrate this into the existing feed:
With that I mean that beneath these tiles at the top (the user can customize which), the same tiles won't repeat again (not good UX or familiar to users anyway) and instead, one can scroll through the feed (once one scrolled past the top few tiles which could also be made collapsable). If one would like to see prior days, then the tiles at the top could be swiped to the left (or right) – see also T418050: Swipe right to see next set of related articles at bottom of articles or Because You Read articles.
