[BUG] Error occurring when tapping on external links if set to "Always" while opening Wikipedia links in other apps

Description

It happened on my device (Pixel 2 XL - Android 8.0) , Android 7.1 emulator and Android 6.0 emulator.

Tested on my old device (Android 4.4) and works well.

If we reset the Open by default in the App Info, and then we can resolve the issue.

Steps to reproduce

Use a web browser to open a wikipedia link, when it shows a dialog for choosing app to open, please select the Wikipedia App and clicks on always
Back to the Wikipedia app, and clicks on the Log in to Wikipedia
On the login page, click on Forgot your password?

Happens on Nexus 5 (6.0.1):
Tapping on the links in the onboarding brings up an app selection bottom sheet every time (which does not appear on any other places where users are taken to a browser link)
