For the annual Google Code-in contest (which gets larger every year), mentors can create tasks on the GCI website.
Org admins need to publish these tasks to become available for students to claim, and coordinate / perform other admin work.
This year we have five Wikimedia org admins. So far we have had only informal ways to contact admins (e.g. ping one admin on IRC to get a task published) which can be a bottleneck (due to timezones etc). Plus sending emails to five separate email addresses is cumbersome.
So I think it makes sense to have a private mailing list to which anyone (mentors etc) can post.

- initial list administrators: aklapper@wm, ssethi@wm (maybe also the other three org admins, don't know if they want to have this responsibility though)
