  1. When I open a category the page shows only text and no image thumbnails are loaded.

error-1.jpg (1,361×696 px, 614 KB)

  1. When I click on a image thumbnail, the image details page also does not show the image.

error-2.jpg (1,366×702 px, 214 KB)

  1. If I click on any of the image dimensions to open the image directly I get error message of Page not Found.

error-3.jpg (1,363×428 px, 70 KB)

  1. Sometimes when opening a category I get server maintenance page.

error-4.jpg (1,366×694 px, 76 KB)

I am facing the problem for the past 5 days after I moved to the UK from India.

The pages are opening fine in mobile and also in laptop if opened with mobile URL.

Hi @Sumitsurai, thanks for taking the time to report this!

Cannot reproduce, being in Europe.
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Dutch_Cemetery_in_Chinsurah shows images.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ab/A_Mausoleum_at_Dutch_Cemetery_-_Chinsurah.jpg also displays an image.

The pages are opening fine in mobile and also in laptop if opened with mobile URL.

That part, in combination with the error messages provided by Wikimedia servers, confuses me.

Does this problem also happen on the desktop page with your laptop when using a different internet connection?

(adding some related project tags to this task, but currently hard to say which triage basket this might be in, or if it's even in Wikimedia's scope)

Hi @Aklapper,

Does this problem also happen on the desktop page with your laptop when using a different internet connection?

Yes, I used two different connections. Happened the same for both.

It is strange- I cannot see changes on traffic patterns of errors it could be a network/isp issue affecting only a few users- but it is strange only uploads is affected, but not text or misc. It could also be a local dns or browser problem. Getting network (ping, traceroute) and traffic (curl) logs would be ideal to try to find a reason for the problem- there is help on how to get that at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Reporting_a_connectivity_issue

Ottomata triaged this task as Medium priority.Jan 16 2018, 7:39 PM
