Marathi Wikisource Index Namespace problem
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hi all, I found out some problem in all the Index Namespace pages of https://mr.wikisource.org/ .
It seems like it's a broken template. It was working fine few days ago but have no idea what is wrong. An example of how it looks broken is to be found at https://mr.wikisource.org/wiki/अनुक्रमणिका:मराठी_रंगभुमी.djvu there are some possibilities that there is some MediaWiki problem

Please fix this problem,
Thanking you,
Tiven.

Hi @Tiven2240, thanks for taking the time to report this!
Unfortunately this report lacks some information. If you have time and can still reproduce the problem: Please add a more complete description to this report (a list of steps to reproduce which leave no room for interpretation what to do, describing actual results and expected results after performing the steps to reproduce, attaching or linking to a public testcase, etc). You can edit the task description by clicking Edit Task.
Ideally, exact and clear steps to reproduce should allow any other person to follow these steps (without having to interpret those steps) and see the same results. Problems that others can reliably reproduce can get fixed faster. Thanks!

Thanks for checking out. But as I see the page it looks like a broken template. The page starts with *{| width="100%" |- valign="top" | * and than continues than again it breaks. A proper index page looks like this one https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Index:A_Digest_of_the_Hindu_Law_of_Inheritance,_Partition,_and_Adoption.djvu

@Tiven2240 A mrwikisource admin should add a newline between "<includeonly>" and "{|" in the first line of
https://mr.wikisource.org/wiki/%E0%A4%AE%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%A1%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%AF%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%B5%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%95%E0%A5%80:Proofreadpage_index_template

The table start/end marks "{|" / "|}" should start at the beginning of a line and be prepended by nothing.
The same problem may appear if using tables in page header / footer (a newline before "{|" / "|}" is required).

Assume to be in this extension, as Index namespace is a part of it

According to the project description: "A potential bridge between non-technical users and developers: Not many users will know that a problem is related to some specific MediaWiki extension, but most users will be able to tell that their problem is happening in Wikisource." All-and-every-Wikisource should remain in the task until somebody more advanced assigns it to more appropriate project.

So either I am misreading the description or your removal (without assigning another project) seems to be incorrect.

Sorry - I meant the sentence "Please do not report language specific tasks under this project (e.g. for en.wikisource)."

Removing MediaWiki-Parser tag (as this has nothing to do with the Parser codebase) and removing ProofreadPage tag.
Setting task status to invalid as no code changes were involved, just an on-wiki content edit.

@Aklapper I think we have a bug in wikicode parser and/or ProofrreadPage here: IMO, my "fix" was a workaround that should not be required. But it seems to be an issue for another bugreport.

@Tpt your opinion? Is it a bug or just an undocumented feature?

Tiven2240 changed the task status from Invalid to Resolved.Dec 9 2017, 3:46 PM

I think it was a bug because as I mentioned it was working fine few days ago while documentation was updated a long time back. Btw thanks for all the fix. And I change the status as resolved because it isn't a invalid one. Imho If the bug would be fixed by a local admin than it would be termed as invalid which is not in this case.
