Please add xpda.com to the wgCopyUploadsDomains whitelist of Wikimedia Commons

Description

I have a lot of images on xpda.com I would like to upload to Wikimedia Commons. I would like to use the API for this, and it's a lot easier to use a URL with the mediawiki API.

Thanks!

@Zoranzoki21 Probably not, they have no LDAP account which is required in order to process such request. Hence, I'm assigning this task to you. By the way, thank you for the site requests work!

For mass uploading, we can run a maintenance/importImages.php directly on the server that would fetch the images from xpda.com and add them to common with the proper User and with a page description. That is usually better suited for one off uploads.

You would have to prepare an archive all the files you want uploaded. For each image, you can add a metadata file that would be the wikitext to put on the image page, that will be the first revision. For example:

2017_nice_building.jpeg
2017_nice_building.jpeg.txt

Where 2017_nice_building.jpeg.txt contains some wikitext.

One or several .tar.gz / .zip will work.

Our process is https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Uploading_large_files

Once ready, fill a task against Wikimedia-Site-requests , feel free to cc me on it. But no guarantee I will do it any time soon.
