Description

I have been experiencing this issue for months. I am not sure what the cause of it is, be it my graphics card, browser, or whether this is a Wikipedia problem. The problem is that, in a wikitable I have been working on, the tables sometimes appear misaligned. Please view the following example:

The cell containing "1802" is not correctly aligned. The browser I was using was Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10. I have installed the latest updates. I have also experienced the same issue with different tables in Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome.

I brought this up at the Wikipedia village pump a couple of months ago (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)/Archive_160#Misaligned_table_cell_lines), without a satisfactory answer.

What I really would like to know is what is the root of this problem. At the Village pump I was told by others that they did not experience the issue of misaligned table lines. (I am using an Intel Core i5 processor @ 2.70 GHz on a 64-bit operating system.) So is it my computer that needs updating?

As was suggested in T178005#3679804, this is likely a browser glitch which we can't do anything about.

As an aside, I tested in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox on Mac OS, and Internet Explorer 11, Chrome, and Firefox on Windows 7, and could not reproduce this issue in any of those browsers.

Are you sure this is a browser glitch? Have you tried looking at each line in the table, especially the cells in the Election column? If there is nothing you can do about it, who can I go to who might have an idea?

Given other people can reproduce this with similar browser-OS combos, and it cannot be reproduced with different browser-OS combo, yes. You've been told it's a browser issue by quite a few people now.

I've already tested this in six different browsers. There is already ample evidence this is a browser bug, so to be totally honest with you, looking at every line in a large table in those six browsers again would be a waste of time (and donor funds).

I do not know the contact information for the developers of your web browser. I suggest you try looking it up.

Do not change the status of this task again.

I wonder if maybe you have your browser window zoomed in (or out). You can reset this zoom, by choosing CTRL+ 0 in Microsoft browsers. Zooming in or out, is known to sometimes trigger rounding errors in browsers. Zooming can easily accidentally happen by pressing ctrl and using your scroll wheel at the same time, and will be remembered these days.
