Description

Landing pages should

  • explain what wikistats is
  • link to Analytics wikistats (old and new) to reduce confusion (this site is pretty high on the google result list for "wikistats")
  • link to documentation on how it works, how the stats are defined, where the source code is located, where to report bugs etc

Event Timeline

The index page says " [not-Analytics-Wikistats] " right under the logo and links to phabricator to report bugs.

Here is where to find the code https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikistats#Where_to_find_the_code

Do the other wikistats also have links describing how they work and how are stats are defined?

I think this is still confusing to 99% of the Analytics-Wikistats userbase who probably have no idea what Analytics is and how it is relevant. Although these days Wikistats 2 does better on Google so it's less of a problem.

The Wikitech page is not really discoverable at the moment IMO (also, people are either unfamiliar with Nova resource pages and will be confused by them, or are familiar in which case they have probably been trained to not expect useful content in them).

Analytics Wikistats v2 has the kind of links I'd expect in the footer (what is this, how it works, how you can contribute). v1 has an About page with links to source code and some docs.
