Seems the access is denied for the user and this is not part of the framework. Also the script urlinks.py which tries to establish the connecton isn't part of the framework. I've no glue how to help in this matter.

Are you on toolforge servers ? If yes, you can find information on https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Toolforge/Database, particularly that credentials and user needed to connect to the database are available in the replica.my.cnf file.

This isn't an issue with Pywikibot. If anything, there is an issue with your credentials on Toolforge.

This is a local configuration problem. Database usernames for the Wiki Replicas look like u3642 or s51611. You are passing your Toolforge shell username instead of the correct name from the $HOME/replica.my.cnf file.
