Reedy renamed this task from New Wikimedia Foundation website (Tracking task) to New Wikimedia Foundation website.Jun 6 2018, 9:00 PM
Reedy added a project: Tracking-Neverending.
Aklapper renamed this task from New Wikimedia Foundation website to New Wikimedia Foundation website (Tracking task).Jun 7 2018, 1:38 PM

A few quick notes:

  1. Path /w/ does not yet redirect, e.g. https://wikimediafoundation.org/w/index.php?search=edit.
  1. The NewRelic analytics tracking is still enabled (view-source and look for js-agent.newrelic.com). I assume that we'll disable this, the same way we did for blog.wikimedia.org and policy.wikimedia.org.
  1. The new site's newly made Privacy policy dated today (July 30) doesn't seem to mention that its hosted by a third party.

Instead, https://wikimediafoundation.org/privacy-policy/ says "This privacy policy applies to non-wiki sites that are hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation" and "If we ever use third-party [..]". That seems incorrect. This should currently state Automatic's policy, as well as New Relic's policy (unless disabled).

Note that the Privacy policy of the Policy microsoft (also hosted by WP-VIP) does mention this correctly, e.g https://policy.wikimedia.org/privacy-policy/ states "This site is hosted by Automattic".

I will bring this up with developers.

Pinging @APalmer_WMF from Legal to speak to that. :)

Hello! Quick question, but the colors used on the new website could pose an accessibility issue to those with vision difficulties. Is there a plan to mitigate these types of accessibility issues, or is the plan just to suggest folks use a screen reader? All and all I do like the concept of the new website though :)

Please file a separate task with the wikimediafoundation.org project tag set and provide steps to reproduce. Thanks a lot!

This application has been disabled.

Varnent renamed this task from New Wikimedia Foundation website (Tracking task) to Launch of new Wikimedia Foundation website (Tracking task).Aug 9 2018, 1:20 AM
Varnent triaged this task as Medium priority.
Varnent updated the task description. (Show Details)

Now that site is up - updated description to clarify this tracking ticket relates to actions pertaining to the launch. General tickets about the new site should be tagged with wikimediafoundation.org project.

Will this new WMF home page get translation for others language than English?

@Varnent: Hi! This task has been assigned to you a while ago. Do you still plan to work on this task?
If this task has been resolved in the meantime: Please update the task status (via Add Action...Change Status in the dropdown menu).
If this task is not resolved and only if you do not plan to work on this task anymore: Please consider removing yourself as assignee (via Add Action...Assign / Claim in the dropdown menu) so others won't think that someone is already working on this. Thanks!

No reply. Closing as this task itself is not actionable and as its subtasks are tracked under wikimediafoundation.org tag anyway (which is the same as this task?).
