Make 'whatlinkshere' a red link on orphaned pages, etc.

Description:
The following issue has actually been raised at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals).

If technically possible and feasible I propose setting off links to pages which may exist but do not provide content. For instance, sometimes a redirect is orphaned, i.e. no pages link to it. Nevertheless, the toolbox on the redirect page provides the common "What links here" link linking to the corresponding page, on which the user gets to know that no pages link to the redirect page. Instead, the "What links here" link ought to appear differently from other links (e.g. in another color) as is the case with those links on the left on title pages in the IMDb which link to pages without content (e.g. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0960864). Thus, one would see that no pages link to a page, without having to click on a hyperlink.

In order to define "no content" for a "page that may exist but do not provide content", are there other examples than orphaned redirects?
So the proposal is basically to (re)use the information already gathered for https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:BrokenRedirects ?

Not going to happen. An additional database query on page load isn't acceptable for such a slim benefit.
