@Prtksxna This would require some development work on the proxy used for the Redirects project. That is possible, but may take a while for me or someone else to find time to do. The current implementation only supports replacing the hostname with a hostname (and optionally path) with the path passed on to the new target server.

Is there something that we can do to make this possible, for example remove the MW installation? Or anything else?

Yes, if you control the webserver configuration on the new site it should be fairly easy to make the redirects on that side so that https://design.wikimedia.org/style-guide/* redirects to https://design.wikimedia.org/style-guide/.
