@Stinglehammer The ip you provided, 172.20.106.73*, is a private one (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_address#Private_addresses). We need public IP address/range. TO get it, go to https://www.whatismyip.com/ website from computers in the room of the event. I can't do anything without this info.

Also, as https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Mass_account_creation#Requesting_temporary_lift_of_IP_cap says, please next time create the ticket at least one week before the event :)

Hi, yes, have looked into this a bit more with the university's network team.

It seems the public IP addressing side of things will depend on whether we connect the laptops to the network via our wireless network, or if we connect the devices to outlets in room 2.03 at 50 George Square, which will connect to the wired network.

We'd much prefer attendees to use their laptops on a wireless network. So as far as the wireless network is concerned Wikipedia will see a 192.41.x.x address in the range 192.41.128.1 to 192.41.131.250. Unfortunately allocation of IP addresses is random and in some cases users may find that they are sharing the same address . We can usually check the translated external address that they have
been allocated by typing 'my IP address' into google as you mention but this may be too late as attendees will be in the room at 1pm tomorrow and we will need the IP unblock in place for then.

Are you able to use the range 192.41.128.1 to 192.41.131.25?

Apologies for short notice. Would have done this sooner but was only notified of the room we were allocated yesterday.

Yes, we are. That is 192.41.128.0/22 - which match the WhoIS records and those IPs are connected to University of Edinburgh. Will create a rule.

This is High priority - this SWAT week (well, even this SWAT window) is required.

Change 433138 had a related patch set uploaded (by Urbanecm; owner: Urbanecm):

I scheduled them for a window, but...it wasn't deployed from some reason. Sorry, can happen with those last minute requests.
