Description

This task will track the setup and installation of bast2002.wikimedia.org. This host was purchased on the single cpu misc order task T195334, and is one of the 7 identical single cpu misc class systems ordered.

This host will replace the use of bast2001.wikimedia.org. Once this is fully online, bast2001 will be decommissioned.

Racking Proposal: This can go into any 1G networked rack. It is replacing (not expanding) bast2001, so it's location in regards to bast2001 is immaterial.

bast2002.wikimedia.org:

  • - receive in system on procurement task T195334
  • - rack system with proposed racking plan (see above) & update racktables (include all system info plus location)
  • - bios/drac/serial setup/testing
  • - mgmt dns entries added for both asset tag and hostname
  • - update task with the network port info and assign to @RobH for network setup
  • - network port setup (description, enable, vlan)
  • - production dns entries added
  • - operations/puppet update (install_server at minimum, other files if possible)
  • - OS installation
  • - puppet accept/initial run
  • - handoff for service implementation
  • - implement service

Thank you Papaul. I am unassigning from myself for now because i will be on vacation for a couple weeks. It doesn't have to be blocked by me if others get to it earlier.

P.S. Just added role(spare) because that adds firewalling. As pointed out by others we should avoid having servers (with a public IP) in puppet without a role because then we don't get ferm rules.
