It shouldn't show translatewiki_net-bw_ – that means nothing to the users.

I think that's the fallback? What if you create a project-localized-name-$wikiId message with the sitename?

It's not possible to create messages with trailing spaces
I think it needs a better fallback for single wiki deployments :)
