How do we measure the success of the new app and article nav design?
Given the goals of this update are to (a) make article reading more of a 'primary destination', and (b) improving the experience when navigating and taking action within articles; some metrics to measure for success may include the following.
- Increased daily average users (being able to access more content they want to read)
- Longer average time spent in the app
- Increase in interactions with articles (eg. saved articles in lists)
- Deeper [1] user sessions with more switching between article reading and exploratory actions
- Ideally, compare per session data from users pre- and post-change
- No drop in usage of other parts of the app (feed, nearby, reading lists, etc)
[1] By "deeper", I mean more articles read per session, regardless of bouncing between feed or article rabbit-holing
