Regarding the "extension", this is nothing we can do, it is a local gadget loaded for everyone. Your local administrators are responsible for having the gadget updated if it is used from other wiki, or develop it, if it is developed locally. Real extensions (such as VisualEditor) are always updated, there is a weekly train and sysadmins take care about updating.
