[[Togo]]straße is linked only until "ß" (Wikipedia)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Some extended ascii characters (like ß) stop a link from being linked. For a street in Germany named "Togostraße" (Togo Street) If you type in [[Togo]]straße, it appears as "Togostraße" instead of "Togostraße". I imagine this happens with other ascii characters, but ß is the one I noticed. It is part of the normal German alphabet and should probably be treated as such.

Works-for-me on ExpandTemplates and Wikipedia:Spielwiese. When can you see it being unlinked?

$linkTrail = '/^([äöüßa-z]+)(.*)$/sDu';

And it's in the de linktrail

Ah - I am having this issue on the enwiki page "Afrikanisches Viertel" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afrikanisches_Viertel so I assume there are separately configured linktrails depending on the wiki language?

yes. See the files in mediawiki core: languages/messages/messagesEn.php (replacing En the language code you want. In the file look for $linkTrail )

This is not the case anymore on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afrikanisches_Viertel so I assume this has been fixed in the meantime.
