I was using this extension. Why was it deactivated? There is no other acceptable replacement, and it was working smoothly as it was supposed to. I know I'm a noob, and coming from a wordpress background quite a spoiled one at that, but I fail to see the benifit of removing a perfectly working plugin, that can actually handle big data, as opposed to the #ask datatables format which doesn't support a new query on search, only filters on screen results.

If anyone can suggest an alternative, or tell me what I need to do, to get this plugin back, please let me know.

Thanks in advance, Istvan

I was using this extension. Why was it deactivated?

Hi, because nobody maintains it. If you are interesting in becoming its maintainer, see

Keep in mind also that the extension being archived has no immediate impact on your use of it - as long as it keeps working in your installation(s), its archival by the Wikimedia project shouldn't affect you directly. It does mean, however, that the extension may stop working without warning when you upgrade your MediaWiki installation(s), so if you don't already, it would be a good idea to do a test upgrade before upgrading any of your production wikis.

@Aklapper Thanks for the trust, but I need to learn more about the wiki architecture first.

@Dinoguy1000 Unfortunately I lost the plugin when the server restarted. I presumed it was because it was taken off and the composer couldn't load the file. Should the composer still work, even if the plugin is archived? If so, the issue might be on my install.

Thanks for the help!

I don't actually know much about composer myself - I've never been much of a server admin, and most of that spotty experience lies in the days before Composer was a thing - but I will note that the extension itself hasn't been archived yet; the only parts of this task that have actually been completed so far are marking its page as archived, and removing its integration tests, so I don't have any idea why a Composer install would suddenly start failing after a server restart.

@IstvanGy I'd love to know which stuffs were you doing with the help of this extension, so we may investigate the replacement easier.

Hi, and sorry for the delay. I didn't get around to see if I can somehow get it to work. I will do it some time this week and report back.

@Liuxinyu970226 This plugin provided me with the ability to display Tables and have the User filter them on different properties. The filtering works even with big data, as each filter creates a new query and reloads the page. (ajax would be nicer, but still) It works better than the {{#ask: |format=datatables}} as this only filters the results already displayed on a page. This approach can lead to issues and long loading times when a lot of data is involved.

If anyone can recommend an alternative, I'd be delighted!

Best regards, Istvan

The extension code is up and I see that packagist still lists the code of the extension for dev-master and the different releases. That said, I've never used composer to install a MediaWiki extension so I can't be of much help I'm afraid. What I can do is, given that there are some interest in still using this extension, halt the archiving process until the issues/concerns are resolved. Thank you.
