New magic word to remove the title of a page
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Although there're templates (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Hidden_title) to do it, but pages using it (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Article_wizard) still have "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" shown.

Also the title can be hidden by CSS (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:FAQ/Main_Page#How_do_you_remove_the_title_of_the_Main_Page?) but this means we need to edit common.css each time we want to hide the title of a page.

The NoTitle extension introduces the __NOTITLE__ magic would for that.

Solution already exists hence closing task as declined.

NoTitle extension is unmaintained. And Wikimedia wikis do not have this.

You (or anyone else) could step up as its new maintainer and request deployment of the extension on Wikimedia servers. If that's feasible though... hmm.

Reopening as this is about Wikimedia servers, still reluctant though :)

The extension didn't really work to begin with, but it was trivial to fix: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/extensions/NoTitle/+/446060

I guess the main question about whether to deploy the extension or not is really how many pages people plan/want to use this on. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Hidden_title&limit=500 looks like it's primarily TWA + New article wizard and some other accidental uses.

I do think the "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:The_Wikipedia_Adventure is ugly and not intended.
