@Ejegg I assume this still needs the backport mentioned in the commit message? Specifying language=es-419 still gets me a payments form in English - link

Oh shoot, yeah, we might need to re-do the patch from 1.27 now that we're on 1.31.

I still get all the messages in English when specifying uselang=es-419 on paymentswiki. Does something else need to change here?

Perhaps related: when trying to edit these on translatewiki.net it shows the message

Translations to this language in this group have been disabled. Reason: This language code should remain unused.

(that in itself is fine, I'm okay with editing the i18n files directly, but I just wondered if it could be related)

Another data point: the es-419 translations are not available on donatewiki either, and just show the English https://donate.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Donate_interface-other/es-419

That patch ^^^ should get us language fallback from es-419 to es.
