Phabricator feature request: As a colorblind user responsible for prioritization, I would like a way to differentiate tasks by priority on a project workboard that doesn't rely on colors.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Colorblind users have reported seeing no difference between priority colors (e.g. Lowest and UBN). If I'm a user that can't tell the difference between the colors assigned by the Priority field, then I can't see or compare task priorities at a high level (e.g. the workboard view). A user-setting that creates a different visual would be helpful.

For example, fire emoji 🔥. There could be a setting that applies symbols to cards on a workboard, such as:

  • Lowest = 🔥
  • Low = 🔥🔥
  • Normal = 🔥🔥🔥
  • High = 🔥🔥🔥🔥
  • UBN = 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Just a suggestion for how to solve this. Perhaps it could be a hack such as the one that applies stamps for Due Date?

Lastly, while it would likely not be part of an MVP, it would be great if this was a setting per user, rather than global, as it might create unnecessary UI noise if you don't need it. :)

@Aklapper To be fair, I did not file it under Phabricator (Upstream) as I did not want to presume what the process was for adding something to that column, so I put it in triage. :)

Is discussion there preferable to filing a task?

This is good to know! I love some of the options. It's a little disappointing that you can't combine them (for example, "Use Larger Font Size" and "Dark Mode"), but that's OK. However, "Use Red/Green (Deuteranopia) Colors" doesn't seem to change anything on my screen like the other options do...

@JKatzWMF as a colorblind user, does that option do anything to help you? I suspect not, but I'm not the best person to decide. :)

Aklapper changed the task status from Duplicate to Resolved.Apr 7 2019, 9:14 AM
Aklapper edited projects, added Phabricator (2019-03-20); removed Phabricator.

This is possible now as project workboards allow grouping (not: sorting) by priority by changing " Natural" to " Group by Priority" in the upper right corner.
