Set $wgRemoveGroups['bureaucrat'][] = 'interface-admin' on plwikisource
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Due to the following decission of plwikisource community:
https://pl.wikisource.org/wiki/Wiki%C5%BAr%C3%B3d%C5%82a:Skryptorium/Pulpit_og%C3%B3lny#Propozycja_cz%C4%99%C5%9B%C4%87_2
we are asking for a MediaWiki configuration change that allows local bureaucrats to not only assign, but also remove the 'interface-admin' user right.
Removal of other advanced rights (eg. 'sysop' or 'bureaucrat') should be the domain of stewards as it is now.

Removal of 'interface-admin' right? I seems to me it is set only for wikis where 'crats can remove 'sysop' rights.

Change 453177 had a related patch set uploaded (by Ankry; owner: Ankry):

Sorry for the mess; my first experience with gerrit.

@Ankry You must schedule the patch for deployment as well. Please add your patch to one of Europan Mid-day SWAT, Morning SWAT or Evening SWAT on https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Deployments (login is the same like your Gerrit login) and then be present in #wikimedia-operations on IRC during the SWAT. SWAT deployer will guide you through the deployment procedure.

For now, it is, but there's a task and a patch, if I remember rightly, that expands this to all wiki bureaucrats as well. As such, I'd suggest to wait for @Tgr so we know when that is scheduled to happen to avoid redundant configuration. Not a big deal on the other hand so I won't block this task/patch if you want to proceed now with this.

@MarcoAurelio - my dear fellow, we put too much effort and time in our small community to set rules for a new group of users, to wait and observe constantly changed approach to the removal right. There were no information or announcements about the changed approach. So, we do not want to wait, please change the configuration. We want to work efficiently and deal with pl ws matters.
We are not sure that such changes (https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/operations/mediawiki-config/+/450450/ - and whether they will be at all) will be permanent, we are not sure that in a week or a month someone will change their minds and, of course, they will just copy the situation for admins https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/operations/mediawiki-config/+/440676/5/wmf-config/InitialiseSettings.php (that is, allows bureaucrats to revoke techadmin on the same wikis where they can revoke admin). In this case, we will be without these rights and we will be forced to lose time again, to carry out a discussion and vote again.

Z.

Like I said, I have no concerns for your wiki to get it now.
