Re T202959, I could not find a way to edit the default text through the Management Interface.

That default text is just an empty placeholder. It renders as an empty parameter on wiki.

No, what I'm talking about is edits like this. Pre-2.0, the bot added "Archivlink" or something similar if there was no text available.

This should now be possible in beta12. It will use the same default text as the cite templates.
