Investigate MCR support gap for Jade purposes
Closed, DeclinedPublic

There have been various proposals from @daniel and @awight to use MCR as a way to support Jade. Scoring-platform-team has a working consensus as of today that MCR is currently too risky due to its lack of field testing and some open bugs. We don't fully understand what might be lacking, however, so this task is to report on the gap.

Known limitations

More information needed

  • No (known) mockups of how MCR will affect the UX, so it's hard to anticipate our own integration.

For the initial use case of JADE (revision judgments), MCR is not the obvious choice, so this probably isn't relevant for now.

For the record, I'd like to give a quick update:

  • T204112: Support slots other than the main slot in EditPage is needed for direct (JSON) editing of JADE info if it's not in the main slot.
  • T194734: Implement edit conflict resolution for MCR means that for now, if you had an edit conflict in a non-main, the edit will just fail.
  • AbuseFilter is not aware of slots, but will function on any information present in the combined ParserOutput (e.g. external links).
  • SpamBlacklist is solved, that should Just Work(tm)
  • Integration with RecentChanges and other history pages: Handled like regular edits. No ability to filter by slot.
  • Undo / revert: should be working now, though it's non-editable.

We decided almost a year ago that this wasn't relevant. I'm just doing cleanup now.
