auto creation of "archiveurl" fields linking to "archive dot org" pages
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

This may not be a bug report. It is [probably] more like a "question" /slash "suggestion".

Please forgive me if I should have submitted an entry here instead of (or in addition to) first posting on the English Wikipedia web site at User talk:Cyberpower678#auto creation of "archiveurl" fields linking to "archive dot org" pages

I could (should I? Probably not...) "repeat" here, the comments that were already entered there, but IMHO that would be a duplication (an unnecessary duplication! ... right?) ... PLUS, even then it would NOT include (except by reference) some of the OTHER info, which was already << "incorporated by reference" >> there ... * * * such as: * * * the original "PS:", which started out as the second half of a certain EDIT

Please (feel free to) let me know if you have any advice, e.g. if there are any questions that I [perhaps] should be asking now, about how to submit this "suggestion" /slash "question" ... maybe questions that I do not [at this time] even know to ask.

*THANK YOU* very much for making these *improvements.*

However, -- (this might be a "picayune nitpick":) -- now the *second-to-last
paragraph* (of the "Description" field) at
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T205116 is missing *the word "comment",*
at the end.
(It's at the end of *the last sentence* of that paragraph ...which is also
the end of [the display text of] *the last hyperlink.*)

I would fix it myself, but ... first, I would have to figure
out how to change it, ...and maybe "acquire" some
necessary permissions, ... etc.

Explanation:
The *"PS:"* mentioned there is *not* the second half of an *edit.* Rather,
it *is* the second half of an *edit comment.*

Those two noun phrases are very similar -- (only *one word* different*!*)
... but: the *meaning* is different!

follow the guidelines on how to report a bug

clearly and concisely as possible.

Whosoever wants to understand, is welcome to
(a) read what it says at

and/or
(b) talk to me.

Trying to anticipate every possible source of (that is, every possible
"reason" for) misunderstanding is perhaps a weakness of mine; ... but
someone insisting (is that happening now?) that I need to do so * * * EVEN
MORE * * *, << "at this time" >>, ... is ... probably not the best solution
to ... whatever misunderstanding you are talking about (you are "referring
to") -- ...as in, "[...] * * * I don't understand * * * what you are trying
to convey."

*Bottom Line*:
(a) read what it says at [see the URL
