Holistically review OOUI components used in Visual Editor dialogs
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Background: Some of the OOUI components behave unexpectedly on different screen sizes.

Proposed Solution: We need to audit the screens of the existing userflow (for persona Yanko) and identify visual inconsistencies and pain points.

Useful Documents:

Event Timeline

To get this work started, I'm going to make a visual map of the screens of the experience.

This will help us to:

  • look for patterns
  • look for inconsistencies

iamjessklein moved this task from To Triage to Up next on the VisualEditor board.

I made a flow diagram T208737 for the purpose of figuring out what components are part of the section editing experience - I think that it's also worth taking a look at for OOUI.

The flow diagram is a nice start @iamjessklein! I've left some comments on InVision about possible improvement tasks and open questions.
Out of interest to reproduce layouts, which screen size did you use (especially width) for it?

It's the iphone xs with firefox - so just under 3inches.

What are inches? *scnr*
375x812 was what I was searching for.

Right! Since the Editing Team has switched priorities to Talk pages, this
has been put in the freezer for a bit.

Removing task assignee due to inactivity, as this open task has been assigned to the same person for more than two years (see the emails sent to the task assignee on Oct27 and Nov23). Please assign this task to yourself again if you still realistically [plan to] work on this task - it would be welcome.
