Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

When AWB is used on a wiki with a tag for AWB, we can remove/disable the option to "Suppress "using AWB" in edit summaries" in the Bots tab. (Does it appear somewhere else?)

What's the reason? I keep it suppressed for my bot and add it to the summary with the current version number.

That's an abnormal action/activity I would guess. Most people run stock AWB, which with tags also tags the edit. I'm fairly certain AWB doesn't not-tag pages.

You can add current version regardless of having the "using AWB" appended to the edit summary either way...

As a result of T111663: Tag AWB edits, AWB uses Special:Tag to tag edits. But I thought that only shows if the local admins have created the tag?

In T111663 the tag was messages were created for all projects with the WikimediaMessages extension deployed.

It's not listed at https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spezial:Markierungen That suggests that we can't count on it existing even at the largest communities.

I stand corrected. It looks like 405531 only created the messages for the tag but the tag isn't enabled. @Reedy Is is possible to automatically enable the tag of all WMF projects?

Yes we can, I added a maintenance script back in August for this (for this sort of purpose, I guess).

I don't know exactly if we should though, not maybe without doing User-notice first. In many ways it'd be an unexpected change of behaviour for a lot of wikis... @Whatamidoing-WMF is probably better placed for asking if we can/should "politically" as technically it's not an issue to do
