It is sometimes useful to highlight -- in a page -- the ongoing discussion on a certain page. So a facility to include the latest n topics from the discussion page would be great.
Also, the ability to embed certain topics by specifying their identifier is also desired.
When exactly would that be useful? Can you please provide specific examples?

The immediate use-case I currently have is not related to Wikimedia:
An implementation of a glossary of localised terms pertaining to informatics and related fields, where discussions on the choices of localisations are very relevant for documenting the process and justifying the choices currently stabilised in the subject page.
Citing comments from the subject page would be useful here -- and linking too, but embedding is also good.
