Currently edit summaries are still plain text, even in VE, partly due to the fact they accept a limited subset of wikitext, so that would probably need to be fixed first (T54174)

@Niharika -- is this something that you considered when you worked on edit summary pings?

@DannyH No, we did not consider this but I don't think this feature needs revisiting anything that's been already done. I think this will build on what we did as part of edit summary mentions.

@ppelberg, isn’t T54174 a subtask (the mini-VE surface should be created before the “Mention” inspector can be added) rather than a parent task?
