switching browser tab should not stop loading editor

Description

  1. Load VisualEditor (or 2017 Wikitext Editor) clicking on Edit button.
  2. Open a new tab in your browser to do something while editor is loading.
  3. After a while, go back to wiki tab where you’ve tried to load editor.
  4. Editor is not loaded: as soon as you switch tab, it stops loading.

I use Firefox 60.3.0esr on Debian. Seems to be the same with Chromium 61.

I don’t know if you can fix that or if it’s a browser issue.

It started happening with me right around Firefox 60 also, though I'm on 63.0.3 now and still affected. No issue before then. I mostly experience it with WTE17. It seems to impact the Linter extension also by not loading the linted wikitext, which does not load WTE17 but instead WikiEditor 2010.
