Make removal of image in Visual Editor possible
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

I'm trying to remove the deleted image on https://nl.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lijst_van_personen_overleden_op_15_oktober&oldid=52763852 by using Visual Editor. (Chrome, Mac, logged in).

First of all, on my (wide) screen, I cannot click on the image title because it overlaps with the 'new paragraph' box. But even if I click on the 'edit' button in the popup you get if you click on the image name, it does not seem to provide the 'remove image altogether' option. I can remove the caption in the popup editor, but not (remains of) the image itself.

An intuitive way (but there may be multiple) would be to click the little squares in the right corner of the image which then would give the option to edit, replace or remove the image.

You can delete an image by pressing backspace or delete on your keyboard.

Actually, that was not a trivial task at all when the image doesn't exist and there's overlap with the new paragraph (and it's unclear where the cursor should go to put it after the image to backspace it).

Yeah, that's very annoying when it happens. Screenshot for reference:

I think we might actually be able to improve this. I filed T211844 about it.
