Make wizards for complex Wikidata item adding
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Now that Wikidata is a few years old, practices around creating some kinds of items have developed in the community. For example:

  • It is a good practice to have separate items for a book, and for each edition of a book, and at least in some cases—for each volume of the edition. Furthermore, items should have typical properties: ISBN, publishing house, author, editor, language, etc.
  • It is a good practice for each item about a human to have properties for gender, first name item, last name item, birth date, citizenship, etc.
  • It is a good practice for each item about a human settlement to have properties about coordinates, country, head of local government, etc.

Some of these things are suggested using constraints that show icons that certain things would be useful (or even required), but this is not entirely convenient even for experienced Wikidatans and even less so for newbies, and doesn't cover all the needs.

It would be more convenient to have wizards that create typical items. Such a wizard would have a form, suggest certain important fields to fill, and creates all the items and add relevant properties to them.
