Links to categories into language Babel box don't work correctly on Walloon projects
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

See here and there, with the Babel extension in use.

On Wikipedia the link to the category for the level of ability in the given language doesn't work, but the one to the category for all users of a given language works well. On Wiktionary both don't work.

On translatewiki MediaWiki:Babel-N-n/wa seems to be well-formated. I don't understand the problem. Any idea?

This would need a configuration change to $wgBabelMainCategory and $wgBabelCategoryNames.

Babel, in its default on-Wikimedia configuration, does not populate or link to any categories.

The configuration for Waloon Wikipedia is overridden to populate (and thus link to) "User <language>" categories ($wgBabelMainCategory), but not "User <language>-<level>" categories ($wgBabelCategoryNames). Waloon Wiktionary has no override of either setting, and thus produces no links.

Wikimedia deployers would probably be willing to adjust these settings for you, if you could point to an on-wiki discussion agreeing to it.

Removing MediaWiki-extensions-Babel as this is not an issue with Babel's code but instead Wikimedia configuration.
