Improve Programs & Events Dashboard for use in the #1lib1ref campaign
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Programs & Events Dashboard is a Ruby on Rails and React web application for organizing and tracking the impact of Wikimedia editing and outreach projects, such as edit-a-thons and Wikipedia Education Program courses. Some organizers of the #1lib1ref campaign would be interested in using the Dashboard, but it isn't well suited to the kinds of things that campaign needs to keep track of. Fix this!

Here's a little more context for the project: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Programs_%26_Events_Dashboard#Using_the_Dashboard_for_#1Lib1Ref

It will require some research to figure out what the highest priority things are to make the system useful for #1lib1ref organizer

mentors: @Ragesoss, ?

This idea is being fleshed out into a full project proposal by Khyati Soneji.

For Wiki Education Dashboard GSoC and Outreachy proposals this round, because of the large number of people interested who are already active in contributing to the project, we're asking applicants to come up with their own project ideas. If you're just getting started and are interested in applying for a Wiki Education Dashboard project, the best way to begin is to:

Wiki Education Dashboard is built primarily with Ruby on Rails and React.

@srishakatux I added this on the Outreachy site also, where it's pending approval.

@Ragesoss Hi! I'm interested in pursuing this project as an Outreachy/GSOC applicant.

Just so I understand the stated project more clearly: are you looking for someone to come up with and develop new dashboard features specifically for the #1lib1ref campaign? Is this what you mean by coming up with our own ideas? Or are you looking for original project ideas for the dashboard in general?

Hope that makes sense.

@zaisid either one of those, although it's probably too late this round for totally separate project ideas.

@Ragesoss is there anything remaining in the project to do before this task can be closed?

Ragesoss claimed this task.
